The iPad + ForScore: A Reason to love technology
When I opened my ForScore today, I noticed that there was a new badge saying I have been with ForScore for 15 years (from 2010 to 2025).
I remember the days where I would have to cart along a very heavy milk crate full of music to play at events. First, I would have to put a post-it note in the music book so I could “quickly” find each piece I was playing. After I loaded all of the music into the crate, it had to weigh at least 30 pounds. So when it was time to leave in my event attire, I would have to pick up the heavy crate full of music, load it into my car, then into the venue. I could only bring a fraction of my entire music library, so I couldn’t easily play special requests unless I already had the song memorized.
In 2010, that all changed because I discovered ForScore. There are so many benefits, but certainly not having to lug around hefty binders or milk crates to every gig made it worth every penny! Page-turning is easier, you can create custom setlists, zoom in on passages, use the built-in metronome, tag and organize music so it is ridiculously easy to find and access. For me, switching to an iPad and ForScore wasn’t just about not having to lift a bunch of heavy scores to play anywhere. It was about embracing a more convenient, efficient, and versatile approach to learning and performing music.
